Understanding 9-1-1
Accessibility at Good2Go Mobile™ - text with 9-1-1 and more information about accessible devices.
9-1-1 Emergency Assistance
All of our wireless guests that are registered with our service can dial 9-1-1 for assistance in the case of an emergency. 9-1-1 calls are automatically routed to the most appropriate public safety agency. If you need to call 9-1-1, always provide your name, your wireless phone number and your specific location. Wireless calls do not provide the emergency operator your actual location. Please try to stay on the line for as long as the operator requires. All calls to 9-1-1 are free so your account will be not charged for the call. Once you have terminated your call, be sure to leave your phone on, in case the operator needs to call you back.
Any call to 9-1-1 from your wireless phone is subject to the same limitations as any regular wireless call. If you are located in an area that does not offer wireless coverage your call may not connect or the quality of your call may be affected.
Phase One of Enhanced 9-1-1
Phase One of Enhanced 9-1-1 will allow emergency operators to provide better assistance to people calling 911 on their cell phone. Phase One will be available in most areas with 9-1-1 service and will provide emergency operators your approximate location, which will be determined by the nearest cellular tower handling the 9-1-1 call.
Phase Two of Enhanced 9-1-1
Phase Two of Enhanced 9-1-1 will provide emergency operators more accurate location information using a combination of the GPS (Global Positioning System) capability of your cell phone and the location of the nearest cell tower handling the 9-1-1 call.
Text with 9-1-1 (T9-1-1)
Text with 9-1-1 (T9-1-1) allows customers that are members of the Deaf, Hard of Hearing or Speech Impaired (DHHSI) community to communicate with an emergency 9-1-1 operator via text message once they have registered for the service. Good2Go Mobile is available to offer T9-1-1 service across Canada where local emergency 9-1-1 call centres have made the necessary upgrades to support T9-1-1 service.
To register for the T9-1-1 service first log into your Good2Go Mobile Account then select 'Text with 911’ located in the Account Tools section and follow the instructions.
View 9-1-1 call centres roll out schedule of T9-1-1 service at www.textwith911.ca (English) or www.textoau911.ca (French).
Accessible Devices for Customers using T9-1-1
To use the T9-1-1 service, users must have an eligible handset (i.e. the wireless device must support voice and text simultaneously).
All wireless devices launched since 2013 have been tested and found to support T9-1-1 service, but we encourage you to check with your phone manufacturer to be sure.
